The BOOMington Blockheads all started in 2021 with a small group of skaters and their desire to bring a roller derby team to Bloomington, IN.

BOOM! The idea was ignited, and a team slowly started to form. But! you can’t have a team without a team name. A decision had to be made on what to call the new roller derby team, but that was the difficult part. The skaters had writers block! Wait! That's it! BLOCK!

The answer exploded out of the skaters minds! The limestone quarries in the area were highly active and blasting zones all around, causing a name to hit the team in a blast. No other name would be so fitting as the BOOMington Blockheads! Thus, a name was chosen, and the team was officially formed!
